BANGLADESH BOOK FAIR INAUGURATED AT KOLKATA

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 06th September, 2015: Yesterday the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission and Gyan O Srijonshil Prokashok Samiti (Knowledge & Creative Publishers Association) of Dacca jointly organized the Bangladesh Book fair for which the inauguration was done here at Rabindra Sadan premises of Kolkata. The Book Fair will continue up to 13th September 2015. The inauguration was done at 05:30 pm yesterday. The chief inaugurator was Mr. Assaudzaman Noor, the cultural minister of Bangladesh. The chief guest was Mr. Bratya Basu, MIC Tourism Department, GOWB. Apart from this, the other dignitaries were Mehr Afroz Chumki (The Deputy Ambassador of Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh, Kolkata), Prof. Samsuzzaman Khan (Director General, Bangla Academy, Dacca), Osman Gani (President, Bangladesh Gyan o Srijonshil Prokashok Samiti) etc. A total of 48 publishers of Bangladesh is participating in this Book Fair. From the last year, this fair is being organized in Rabindra Sadan prior to the previous year it was organized at the Gaganendra Shilpo Exhibition Hall. During the address of the inauguration, the Bangladesh minister Mr. Asaduzzaman said “The two neighboring countries have a blood connection from the time of Bangladesh Independence.

For the Independence of Bangladesh, many Indian Soldiers have laid their lives. We cannot deny this. We have to move forward together. The time has come to counter all anti-cultural activities that are grabbing the society”. The tourism minister of Bengal Mr. Bratya Basu in an exclusive interview with TNI said “Books cannot be replaced by the Internet. Both the medium will function alongside. Readers of both the medium are different. Mobile could not totally eradicate landline telephones”. In the staging address, he declared that “For curving the piracy of Books and films a bill is going to be tabled very soon in the Assembly”. Later in the stage, a book was also released about the ill effect of Piracy in various areas. The numbers of visitors were huge and the cultural program was also mind-blowing.
